CONSTANTINO “MIXMASTER” PADOVANO aka DJ FUNKY JUNCTION

Constantino “Mixmaster” Padovano aka DJ Funky Junction has spent around three decades behind the decks. His style draws on disco, deep house, and progressive, and his reputation for taking the crowds on a journey through the spectrum is born out of an era where 10+ hour sets were the norm. During a typical set, you’ll hear everything from Deep and Funky House to Epic Big-Room Tribal Bangers.

The story of Constantino’s many monikers is the story of his sound: while he was working at the Tunnel, Limelight, and Danceteria in the early 80’s he earned the name “Mixmaster” due to his habit of doing reel-to-reel edits of almost every song he played throughout the night (a practice he continues to this day). As house replaced disco, “Mixmaster Podavano” earned a reputation for spinning deep, funky, soulful vocal house at Buddah Bar, Café de Mar, and Hed Kandi (and producing music with the same sound). In 2000 he decided that his sound was in need of a shake-up. His hit track “Voices” took him in a new direction, and that’s when he picked up the name “Funky Junction” as his productions and DJ sets began gravitating towards a more progressive sound. He would switch names from gig to gig, using “Mixmaster” when he would play small, intimate rooms, and “Funky Junction” when he would play big rooms. Today, he goes by both names, seamlessly blending the two sounds in his sets.

There will be an opening set by Richard “Dr. Love” Vasquez. Back in the days of the Paradise Garage and The Loft in New York City, Vasquez ran “The Choice,” a club that is responsible for breaking many of today’s big DJs into the scene. He’s been spinning every since, and he’ll be drawing on his crate of deep, soulful house.”

In the bar room, Ryan Evans and Ray Milian will be spinning their eclectic array of House, Funk, Disco, and everything in between. As the night rambles on, Carmel Ophir takes over the decks to serve up his special stew of Rock, Mod, Garage, Psychedelic, and Soul.

In the garden, jump on board the steel wheels with DJ A-Train, giving you Rare Grooves, R & B, Funk, and Hip-Hop.

And of course, all of this will be accompanied by the erotic antics of Back Door Bamby’s slate of Sex Kittens and Naughty Misfits.
